Dawson Eyes Belle Vue Debut

The left-back picked up a knee injury in pre-season after signing on a free transfer from rivals Scunthorpe United, but his spell on the sidelines is set to come to an end.

He has returned to training, and is set to go into the squad when City take on Doncaster Rovers next Monday.

He said: "After the length of the lay-off I've had, you probably need seven or eight days of full training before you can think about playing.
"I've already done a lot of work. I've done everything the other lads have and, touchwood, the knee is fine.
"It was probably a bit early to play in the reserves at Rotherham on Wednesday and although I haven't tested it in a game yet everything is going to schedule. I'd love to be involved when we go to Doncaster."

If the 24-year-old starts the match and where he will play are anyone's guess. Damien Delaney has deputised well at left-back in Dawson's absence, but the young Irishman could move to the centre of defence to allow the former Nottingham Forest trainee to slot in to his favoured position. Alternatively, Dawson could play in front of Delaney on the left flank with Stuart Elliott - who has appeared out of sorts this season - dropping out.
