Pearson says that City have agreed a "substantial" fee with the Scottish club which comes close to breaking our £250,000 transfer record set last year for Lawrie Dudfield.

Pearson says that the striker - who has earned international honours - will be in talks at Boothferry Park on Monday.

City have been rumoured with Dundee United's Northern Ireland Under-21 Steven Carson recently.

Manager Jan Molby said: "We've just made a bid for a striker in Scotland, and now we've got to wait and see.
"I can't say who and which club, but we're making a bid and we're hopeful it will be accepted."

Meanwhile he spoke about transfer targets Colin Larkin and Karl Connolly: "Colin Larkin I doubt is going to happen. I'd love to have him and I think at some stage we will get him - whether it's six months or 12 months down the line, he'll always be someone who will be at the top of the list. But it looks like we're going to have to wait. It's unlikely he'll be here for the start of the season.
"I'm aware Karl Connolly's name was linked with us. We made a tentative enquiry to his club, Queens Park Rangers, but we're not going to pursue it any further."
