City Make Surprise Sale

The forward, who scored twice over pre-season, was thought to be in contention for City's 2006/07 opener at West Brom tomorrow. Instead, he will be playing for Southend United in their Championship clash with Stoke.

His move to the Shrimpers will, due to technicalities to allow him to play tomorrow, be a loan deal, before making it permanent on Monday for £200,000.

The 22-year-old has only been with City since November, moving from Port Vale for £150,000. City avoid paying a further £75,000 that would have been due after his 30th appearance in a Tigers shirt. He only made 12 starts, plus a further 11 appearances as a substitute, and scored 3 goals.

His sale leaves City short on forwards for tomorrow's game. Darryl Duffy and Craig Fagan are the only fully fit strikers in the squad, while Jon Parkin, Nick Barmby and Ben Burgess are all returning from injuries. Steve McPhee is ruled out.
