City Make £100,000 Signing

Stockport County striker Ben Burgess has joined in a £100,000 transfer, and he has just over a week to get accostomed to his new team-mates before making his debut at home to Wrexham on April 5th. He's one of five players Peter Taylor plans to sign before next season.

The 6'3" centre forward has only scored 6 goals in all competitions from 20 starts this season after the Hatters paid £400,000 to sign him from Blackburn in the summer. He has recently been on loan at Oldham, failing to score in any of his 7 appearances.

Previously he played 3 times for Blackburn after coming through the youth ranks at Ewood Park. In 2000/01 he was loaned out to Australian side Northern Spirit, before scoring 18 goals for Brentford in a year-long loan last season.

The 22-year-old has also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level.
