Forward Daniel Webb is reported to have had a trial with City recently, and Peter Taylor took the 6'0" 19-year-old on a four month loan at Brighton earlier in the year. He says he would be interested in taking him on a free transfer, but is unlikely to persue him for a fee.

Jay Smith is another rumoured target. The young midfielder is currently on loan with the Shrimpers from Aston Villa.

Taylor is hoping to sign a midfielder on loan in time for Saturday's trip to Lincoln. Ian Ashbee's suspension is likely to see Damien Delaney switch to central midfielder unless a new signing can be made. City will take 2,500 fans to Sincil Bank after selling out their ticket allocation.

Meanwhile, Carlisle are back in the hunt for Stuart Green. Newcastle had accepted a £150,000 offer from City, but are insisting on a 50% sell-on clause. Carlisle manager Roddy Collins says that the Cumbrians are ready to match the offer.
