Ben Burgess - scored his second of the week
Both sides failed to make the most of their chances in the first half. Danny Allsopp - returning after injury - failed to capitalise when he had the ball in advanced positions, while Dean Keates cleared Ged Brennan's shot off the line after Paul Musselwhite had tipped a corner into his path.

Allsopp again had chances in the second half, but it was Stuart Green who found the net on 63 minutes. Andy Dawson's cross from the left went over Ben Burgess, but Green headed it on the bounce to send it past Matthew Gilks in the Rochdale goal.

City doubled the lead 3 minutes later to secure the victory. Green crossed from the right, and Justin Whittle did well to head the ball back into the six yard box where Ben Burgess volleyed home.

City line-up (4-4-2): Musselwhite; Hinds, Whittle, Delaney, Dawson; Green, Ashbee, Keates, Elliott (Holt 79); Allsopp, Burgess.
Un-used subs: Fettis, Regan, Melton, Forrester.
