Sam Allardyce brought a weakened side to the KC Stadium as they only arrived back from Japan last night, while Peter Taylor flexed his squad by making ten half time changes.

That didn't stop good football being played though and City used their large share of possession to create a number of chances, but the two best openings both came from defensive mistakes. Trotters centre back Jaroslaw Fojut slipped when attempting to head clear, but Craig Fagan blasted over when he should have capitalised better.

Kevin Ellison had a header saved, before the next mistake was made by City right-back Mark Lynch. He played the ball to nowhere, and James Sinclair should have done better as he rushed a shot way off target.

Danny Coles was the only player Peter Taylor kept on on for the second half, which City again had the better of.

Ben Burgess was denied a goal as the officials adjudged Bolton's scrambled clearance to be successful.

In the 52nd minute, Joey O'Brien lunged in and saw Stuart Elliott go flying over his challenge. Referee Phil Prosser awarded a penalty, but Chris Haworth made a great save as he dived right to save the powerfully hit shot.

Burgess came close again with a volley from the edge of the area flashing just wide, but the breakthrough eventually came in the final minute. A good team move was rounded off by Elliott to round off City's pre-season schedule with a 1-0 win.
