City Back on Winning Ways

After a dull goal-less first 45 minutes Jan Molby brought on his 'first eleven' for the second half, and City took the lead after just five minutes. Stuart Green crossed from the right and Stuart Elliott turned the ball in at the back post.

Elliott then got his second in City colours heading in a Mike Price corner on 57 minutes.

Lawrie Dudfield almost made it 3 after going on a long run, but the keeper blocked his shot.

City sealed the win in the dying minutes of the game when another Price corner came into the box and the Whitby goalkeeper Phil Naisbett put the ball into his own net.

City's next match is on Tuesday at Scarborough, where Jan Molby has vowed to put out his first eleven for more than 45 minutes.

First half line-up (4-3-3): Musselwhite; Petty, Whittle, Mohan, Holt; Greaves, Philpott, Peat; Williams, Donaldson, Mann.
Second half line-up (4-3-3): Glennon; Edwards, Anderson, Strong, Smith; Green, Ashbee, Price; Dudfield, Alexander, Elliott.
