City Agree Deal For Defender

Bristol City have accepted a £200,000 bid for the unsettled 23-year-old, and he will sign tomorrow providing he passes a medical. The deal also includes a sell-on clause for the Robins if City sell the player on for a fee.

The 6'1" Bristol-born defender was transfer-listed in February by "mutual consent", but still remained in the side until the end of the season. He made 180 appearances in total for the club since coming through its youth academy.

Coles described it as "a complete U-turn" as Bristol City then offered him an extension to his contract, which he turned down as he pressed for a move, which the club seemed reluctant to allow.

But now they have received "an acceptable offer for Danny, which would represent good business for the club," they are letting their former captain leave two years before the end of his contract.

He signs a two-year deal with the Tigers, and it has an option of an extra year.

The Robins have already lined up a replacement, with Motherwell's David Partridge set to sign.
