Jon Walters is to move to the Deva Stadium on a free transfer. The forward played 11 games for City while on loan from Bolton in 2003, scoring 5 goals, before signing permanently in February 2004 for £50,000. However, he was only selected to start 10 times, and scored 3 goals. He moved to Wrexham a year ago, but again struggled with goals and got just 5 in 36 starts.

Right-back Carl Regan has left Chester, four years after joining them from the Tigers on a free transfer. After a two-year spell with Hull City, he made 53 starts for the Cheshire side, but now joins Brian Horton's Macclesfield Town.

It was announced today that Chester have failed re-capture former player Kevin Ellison, as he moves from Hull City to Tranmere Rovers.
