Ben Burgess - knee injury an unfortunate dent in City's promotion hopes
Burgess was injured by Huddersfield goalkeeper Paul Rachubka's challenge in the 0-0 draw at the KC Stadium yesterday, slowly limping off before being substituted in the 62nd minute. The former Manchester United trainee, who is on loan to the Terriers from Charlton Athletic, went unpunished but Peter Taylor felt there was more in it.

He said after the match: "I'll have to see the video because I thought the goalkeeper came up dead straight with his studs in the air. If an outfield player does that it's a foul."

City look set to be hit by a bigger blow than being denied a penalty in the game though, as 18-goal striker Burgess is thought to have sustained cruciate ligament damage to his knee. Such an injury could result in a six-month layoff, meaning that he'll miss the last two games of City's run-in and the opening months of next season as well.

Clarification on the extent of the former Blackburn, Nothern Spirit, Brentford, Stockport and Oldham player's injury is expected tomorrow.
