The 6'3" striker has played once this season in the Premiership, coming on midway through the second half in the Mackems' 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.
Previously he's started 14 games as well as coming off the bench numerous times since recovering from a serious knee injury in 2003 and making his first team debut a year ago.
He'd also been out on loan to Doncaster Rovers in 2002/03, scoring 10 goals in 22 League Two appearances.
