An accumulation of five bookings would have left a player suspended for a game a week later. However, beyond the end of February, a two-match suspension will only come in once a player has reached ten yellow cards, missing out the one-match suspension after five.

In particular, Boaz Myhill, Nick Barmby, Jason Price and Michael Keane can breathe easily. They have all got four yellow cards to their names, but will now have to get six more to pick up a ban. All they will get is an FA warning over their future conduct.

Ian Ashbee and Andy Dawson have 7 and 6 cautions to their names respectively. They've already served one-match bans, but if they can avoid getting up to the 10 card mark by the second Sunday in April - when City are away at Bradford - they will be safe from missing further games during the run in. They will though be severely censured and warned over their future conduct.

But there's no chance of reprieve for either Kevin Ellison or new signing Craig Fagan. Ellison is on 10 - 9 of which he accumulated playing for Chester - while Fagan joins from Colchester with 12 to his name. Players who get booked 15 times over the course of the season miss a further 3 games (having already served one-match and two-match bans at the 5 and 10 marks).
