Blades Get Fettis

Alan Fettis has gone to First Division hopefuls Sheffield United on a month's loan. The Blades - currently 3rd in their league - are missing first choice keeper Paddy Kenny due to injury, and Paul Gerrard's loan from Everton has finished. Rookie Kristian Rogers is therefore their only only fit goalkeeper, so Neil Warnock has brought in Northern Ireland international Fettis on loan and former Blackburn, AIK Stockholm and Malmo keeper Lee Baxter on non-contract terms.

Warnock will choose between the pair for tomorrow's game against Burnley.

Paul Musselwhite is now the only senior goalkeeper under City's books, raising speculation that Peter Taylor is set to make a new signing. He had been rumoured to be interested in Baxter, but his current trial at Brammall Lane could hault a move.

Meanwhile, Richie Appleby's disastrous spell at Hull City has come to an abrupt end. He has played just 7 times since being bought from Kidderminster last year due to a variety of injuries. The club said in a statement that they are "extremely pleased" to have agreed a settlement to terminate the player's contract.
