Barnsley Slip Up In Title Hunt

Current Pontin's Holiday League Premier Division leaders Barnsley suffered a 1-0 defeat against struggling Wigan. They remain 2 points ahead of 2nd placed City in the table, but have played 3 more games and also have an inferior goal difference.

City, who have lost just once this season, were due to play Sheffield Wednesday today but the game was called off after a pitch inspection of the Bracken Moor ground they play their reserve games at. It's not yet been re-arranged for a new date.

Walsall are next up for title-chasing City. That kicks off, as usual, at 2pm at Church Road, North Ferriby on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the East Riding Senior Cup quarter-final tie between City and Anlaby United will go ahead on Saturday 12th March, staged at Dene Park (kick-off 2pm). The first attempt at the match was abandoned in the first half due to floodlight failure, with United beating a City side mostly made up of youth team players 1-0, with ex-Tiger Sam Sharman scoring.
