City have been in talks with the ex-England international and are hopeful that he will complete a move this week. He could even link up with his Hull City teammates for training as soon as Wednesday if he can come to an agreement with his current club, Leeds United.

Peter Taylor confirmed: "If Nick can sort out his situation at Leeds then we would be very keen to have him here because I admire him as a player and as a person."
