Barmby Rumours Denied

The 29-year-old, Hull-born player is out of favour at Leeds United. It is thought that the terms of his £2.75million transfer from Liverpool a year ago demand an extra payment after a certain number of appearances, which will be surpassed if he plays again. This effectively leaves him unavailable to turn out for the cash-strapped club, but rumours linking him with a loan move to his home town club have been denied by both City and Barmby himself.

The former Spurs, Middlesbrough, Everton and Liverpool player said: "I've heard that I've gone cold towards Leeds, but that's not true at all.
"I am committed to Leeds United, nothing has changed for me in that respect. I have two years left on my contract and I just want to play for the club."

Meanwhile, a Tigers spokesman said: "He is a local lad and gets down here as often [as he can] but there is nothing more to it than that. It would be highly unlikely he would want to move from Leeds to Division Three."
