The forward, who returned to the starting line-up today following a hamstring injury, had to be withdrawn at half time. He hurt his ankle when tackled in the 34th minute, and Phil Brown revealed that once he got in the dressing room and removed his boot, the swelling meant he'd be unable to play in the second half or in Tuesday's game at Middlesbrough.

Barmby is a former Boro player, joining them in 1995 in a £5.25m move from Tottenham, before leaving just over a year later for Everton.

The 32-year-old missed their visit to the KC Stadium last Saturday due to injury, and now looks set to miss out again on Tuesday.
