City boss Jan Molby has managed the midfielder at both Swansea and Kidderminster in the past, and made him one of his first targets after taking over at Boothferry Park.

The Dane said recently: "He is one of the best players in the lower divisions and he'd make a big difference to our squad."

City are now expected to step up their chase for the 26-year-old former Newcastle trainee. He has rejected Kidderminster's offer to extend his contract, and will be available on a free transfer as of 30th June.

Harriers manager Ian Britton said: "We did everything possible to keep him, but at the end of the day we were not prepared to compromise the long term financial security of the club for one player.
"Richie's reasons for refusing to sign are many and varied, but those discussions must remain private between Richie and I.
"Richie is a talented player and everyone at the club wishes him well wherever he choses to further his career."
