Either Macclesfield Town or Alfreton Town will come to the KC Stadium in Round 2.

They drew 1-1 yesterday at Alfreton's Impact Arena. Danny Whitaker thought he'd put the Silkmen through when he scored 4 minutes from time, but Mark Sale equalised for the home side in stoppage time to take it to a replay, which will be played on Tuesday 23rd November. The winner will take on the Tigers on Saturday 4th December after the 3-2 win over Morecambe in the First Round yesterday.

The last time City played Alfreton was in July of this year in a pre-season friendly, which was won 2-0 courtesy of two Jon Walters goals. The two teams have never met in a competitive fixture before. The Reds are currently top of the Conference North, and ex-Tiger Chris Bettney is a first team regular for them. There's another connection between the two clubs in that Ryan France joined City from Alfreton last year in a £15,000 deal.

Macclesfield, meanwhile, have been drawn against City twice in the FA Cup in recent years. A First Round tie in 1999 ended 0-0 at Moss Rose, before the Tigers won 4-0 in the replay at Boothferry Park. Town were on the winning side in 2002 though in Peter Taylor's first FA Cup match in charge of the Tigers, easing to a 3-0 First Round victory. They have two former City keepers in their squad in Alan Fettis and Steve Wilson, with Fettis currently the number 1.
