Fans' Liaison Committee Meeting 16/01/08

Matt Duke
Will there be an announcement at the next home game (Tues 29 Jan) to wish him well?

It will be Matt's decision as to anything that will be decided but, at the moment, things are looking positive.

Anlaby Road Flyover Lighting
At the last meeting it was reported that extra lights would be installed outside the South Stand. What is the progress with this?

New lighting has been installed in the south-east corner of the ground. The flyover is the responsibility of the city council.

KC Stadium Car Park

Can there be a restriction of 15 minutes for cars moving in the KC (not Walton St) Car Park? They are dangerous to the fans leaving the ground.

There is a restriction on the movement of vehicles parked on the perimeter of the ground but not the car parks. If any vehicles on the perimeter move within 15 minutes of the end of the game then the registration number should be reported.

KC Stadium

Can we have some colour/decorating in and around the ground?

PD wants to the football club's identity to be separate from stadium. There is more soul in the image of the football club. He wants to reinforce the Tiger emblem. He sees it as a fantastic personification of the club. The corporate areas and the Circle restaurant are the first stage in general enhancement. However, we must not alienate the rugby fans. There will be more identification with the football club on the kiosks which will be rotated when the stadium is used for rugby. New glasses bearing the club brand will be introduced on match days.

Big Screen/Scoreboard
Fans still unhappy that the score is too small, making it hard to see what the time is on it. Particularly from the South Stand.

This has been checked out from the back of the South Stand and it seems to be satisfactory.

Why do we have to have the match on the screen while it is taking place? Why not just action replays and have the score displayed the rest of the time? Are there any plans for more highlights etc to be produced for showing pre-game? And match stats, latest scores etc. at half time?

PD doesn't see a problem with this and those handling the equipment are becoming more expert in using it. What else do you want to see on it? he asked.

Programme
When you're paying £3, you don't want second hand information. Two of the interviews in Saturday's programme were almost word for word the same as had already been published elsewhere. How about a regular 'Where are they now' feature on ex-players? To encourage sales, how about a prize draw?

PD agreed that the City Mag had covered the same ground on one particular week. The "Where are they now?" feature is in the City Mag.

Shirt
If City are playing in stripes next season, could a plain amber shirt be brought out as an away kit/leisure item to appease fans who prefer it to stripes? If this proves popular, could we keep stripes as our home kit EVERY year and make that our identity, and continue to bring out plain amber alternatives as a compromise. Have City asked other clubs that do wear the same style kit every year if their shirt sales are worse than ours because we alternate? In future, can fans have some input/choice in the new kit?

The club is restricted in choice of kit by what the manufacturers are willing to provide. Whatever kit is in use (stripes or plain) the club shop report that there is always a 60/40 demand for the one that is not being used!

At the last meeting the club said they like City to wear the change kit away from home. FANS would like City to wear the home kit whenever possible, as this should be our identity.

PD sees how the stripes fit better with the Tiger image.

Tiger Travel

Can there always be a TV/DVD player on the bus? There was for Preston, but not for the long journey to Southampton.

There is always a video player on each bus but it may not be in use.

FA Cup

What's the club's view on playing a weakened team in the cup?

PD believed that the team which kicked off at Plymouth should have been strong enough to win but it did not perform in the first half. There had been an intensive programme prior to the cup game and certain players were rested. We won the second half 2 - 1. He wanted a cup run because it would have provided a much needed revenue stream for the club.

Club's presence in the city

After September's meeting the committee were supposed to report back with cost-effective ideas on raising awareness of the club around Hull.

Advertise upcoming games on the big screen in town?

Advertise on buses? Have a bus painted black and amber?

Advertising on buses is expensive. The club is doing a deal with a brewery to emphasise the club's presence in the city through the 85 outlets it supplies in the area.

Other main items

Players - Damien Delaney will sign for QPR on Thursday for an undisclosed fee; he has passed medical tests. PD said he couldn't refuse the offer. DD is unlikely to play against us in 12 April match. Goalkeeping cover (unnamed) has been arranged for Colchester on

Saturday.

Colin Murphy - PD said that he is recovering well and the club is looking to bring him back in a reduced capacity initially when he is able.

Ticket Promotions - The "Kids For £1" was a great success and 2,600 tickets were sold. The "Buy 2 Get One Free" and "Six-Pack" promotions sold hundreds rather than thousands. The club is likely to do these again in the future.

Away Tickets - A proposed loyalty scheme will be the subject of the next FLC meeting in February.

Beer Prices - A pint of beer/lager will cost £2.80 as from the Blackpool game (9 Feb) but there will be a Hull City crest on your "glass"! PD says the club has subsidised the price of draught beer/lager with the caterers since the start of the season.

Close Season friendlies - A request was made for an away friendly with Royal Antwerp. PD said he would consider it.

Referees - The club send in an assessment of referees (marks out of 100) after every game as well as the independent assessor from the FA.

"Man of the match" votes - There is no plan to aggregate votes to have a "Man of the season." The club receives a share of the revenue from the text votes.
