The role of Development Director was left empty after Colin Murphy's retirement in January 2009, as well as the departure of Trevor Morgan, who had been blooding the club's young players in the Premier Reserve League. The appointments of Stuart Watkiss as Development Coach and Aidan Davison as Reserve Team Coach in July 2009 filled those places in Phil Brown's backroom team.
Watkiss has previously managed Mansfield Town and Kidderminster Harriers. He has most recently been Assistant Manager at Grimsby Town, where he has twice been Caretaker Manager, until Mike Newell relieved him of his duties.
