A deal worth £220,000 brings Steve McPhee to Hull. He's agreed a two-year deal, and will complete the transfer from Portuguese side Beira Mar once international clearance goes through.

The 5'7" Glaswegian has only been with them since moving on a free transfer last summer, and reportedly did well for the club, but has chosen to return to Britain.

The former Coventry trainee spent three years at Port Vale before going to Portugal. He scored 17 goals in his first two seasons at Vale Park, before really making people take notice in 2003/04 when he hit the net 27 times. The pacy 23-year-old made a total of 147 appearances for the Valiants, and also got a call-up to the Scotland Under-21 squad in his time there.

This may not be City's only dealing with the Portuguese market this summer, with Peter Taylor rumoured to be interested in Sergio Leite again. The ex-Charlton goalkeeper called off a move last summer due to personal problems.
